Tandy Leather Factory, Inc., is a Texas corporation founded in 1980 as Midas Leathercraft Tool Company. It changed its name to The Leather Factory, Inc. In 1993 and in 1994 reincorporated in the state of Delaware. In 2005, the company changed its name to Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. The Company is a retailer and wholesale distributor of leather and related products, including leather, leatherworking tools, buckles and adornments for belts, leather dyes and finishes, saddle and tack hardware, and do-it-yourself kits. The Company’s operating segments includes Wholesale Leathercraft, Retail Leathercraft and International Leathercraft. The Wholesale Leathercraft operation distributes it’s a product line of leather and leathercraft-related products in the United States and Canada through wholesale stores operating under the name, “The Leather Factory”. The Company operates wholesale stores in 20 states and three Canadian provinces. The Company’s Retail Leathercraft segment consists of a growing chain of retail stores operating under the name, “Tandy Leather.” Tandy Leather Company, established in 1919 as Hinkley-Tandy Leather Company, is a supplier of leather and related supplies used in the leathercraft industry. This retail segment offers a product line of quality tools, leather, accessories, kits and teaching materials. Tandy Leather retail chain has 78 stores located in 37 states and six Canadian provinces. Both of these segments sell leather and leathercraft-related products. The Company’s third segment International Leathercraft consist of company-owned stores located outside of North America. The Company has three wholesale/retail combination stores in this segment one in Northampton, United Kingdom, which it opened in February 2008, one in Sydney, Australia, which it opened in October 2011, and one in Jerez, Spain, which the company opened in January 2012. The stores operate under the Tandy Leather Factory trade name.The Company’s competitors are small, independently-owned retailers and small local craft stores.
