It serves as the holding company for Park Sterling Bank (the “Bank”) and is a bank holding company registered with the Federal Reserve Board. On January 1, 2011, the Company acquired all of the outstanding common stock of the Bank, on a one-for-one basis, in a statutory share exchange transaction effected under North Carolina law. Through its branches and offices, It provides banking services to small and mid-sized businesses, owner-occupied and income-producing real estate owners, institutions, and professionals and consumers doing business or residing within its target markets. It provides banking products, including personal, business and non-profit checking accounts, IOLTA accounts, individual retirement accounts, business and personal money market accounts, certificates of deposit, overdraft protection, safe deposit boxes and online banking. Its lending activities include short-to medium-term commercial, real estate, residential mortgage and home equity and consumer loans, as well as long-term residential mortgages.
