Community Bankers Trust Corporation was incorporated under Delaware law on April 6, 2005. It is the holding company for Bank of Essex, a Virginia state bank with 24 full-service offices in Virginia, Maryland and Georgia. Bank of Essex was established in 1926 and is engaged in a general commercial banking business and provides a range of financial services mainly to individuals and small businesses, including individual and commercial demand and time deposit accounts, commercial and consumer loans, travelers checks, safe deposit box facilities, investment services and fixed rate residential mortgages. Its fourteen offices are located in Virginia, mainly from the Chesapeake Bay to just west of Richmond, seven are located in Maryland along the Baltimore-Washington corridor and four are located in the Atlanta, Georgia metropolitan market. Essex Services, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of Essex and was formed to sell title insurance to Bank of Essex’s mortgage loan customers. Essex Services, Inc. also offers insurance products through an ownership interest in Bankers Insurance, LLC and investment products through an affiliation with VBA Investments, LLC.
